Weis Markets has named Shirl Stroeing as its new chief information officer and vice president.

Stroeing has over 20 years in the retail sector and in information technology in retail. During those years, Stroeing held various positions, and particularly in information technology in retail capacities. Thirteen of those years were in senior management positions, so she brings into Weis a wealth of management experience. Stroeing moves to Weis Market from Supervalu Inc. where she was serving as operations support, service management and vice president. She had also served in other technology of information positions at Minneapolis based Supervalu Inc. such as; vice president, corporate systems;; vice president corporate and supply chain; vice president, business intelligence and marketing; and vice president, merchandising transformation.

She will be taking over from Bob Mawyer, who left Weis earlier this year. Her role at Weis Markets will be to manage the IT functions of the company. This will encompass collaborating with business leaders of the firm to bring pioneering and efficient information technology results to the grocer’s stores, manufacturing facilities, its distribution center and the center for store support. It is hoped that she will bring on board the IT skills to propel the company further.

Stroeing’s boss will be Scott Frost, who is the chief financial officer and senior vice president of Weis Markets.
