JFC International, Incorporated announced a recall of all Taitan and UCC Instant Drink Mixes due to a milk protein ingredient not declared on the products’ label.

The recall was made after the company found that Caseinate and/or Casein sodium was actually a sub-ingredient of the ‘non-dairy creamer’ that is an ingredient of the products. Caseinate, a milk protein, was not included on the list of ingredients that were indicated in the products’ labels.

The affected drink mixes are imported products from Taiwan and were distributed to the country starting March of 2000. Below are specifications of the recalled products.

Milk in all its forms is considered as one of the most common food allergens. People who are extremely sensitive to any form of milk should avoid eating foods that contain it, so as to avoid an allergy attack. Since the recall was made however, no related allergy attacks have been reported.

Consumers who bought these affected drink mixes can return the products in exchange for a refund. They may also contact 1-800-633-1004, from Monday to Friday, for any recall-related inquiries. The hotline is open from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon, Pacific Time.
