Piggle WigglyIn Racine County, Wisconsin, two Piggly Wiggly stores will soon undergo some major changes as they are being prepared to be run as franchise stores. The Piggly Wiggly stores are located at 3900 Erie Street and 5201 Washington Avenue in Wisconsin.

Although the deal has not yet been formally closed, it has been reported that the completion of the sale will not be later than the 21st of May this year. This statement is according to chief executive officer Gary Suokko. Suokko’s company is in charge of the Piggly Wiggly stores based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He also said that the two Wisconsin Piggly Wiggly stores will remain open during the process of transferring ownership.

Currently the new owners’ name has not been disclosed, however Suokko said that the new owners have a lot of experience in the grocery business. As soon as the sale of the two stores is completed, there will only be 19 stores that will still be under Piggly Wiggly Market. There are a total of 101 Piggly Wiggly stores in the area of Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Suokko has also stated that the company’s future plans will be to focus more on their wholesale operations. As for the employees of the soon-to-be franchise Piggly Wiggly stores, it will be up to its new owners to decide on whether existing workers will be kept in their current position with the stores. The two Piggly Wiggly stores have a combined workforce of 158 employees according to the data filed at the Department of Workforce Development.

The Piggly Wiggly Market still owns two stores in Racine County. One is located at 4011 Durand Avenue and another one is located at 5600 Spring Street.
