Ever since shows about extreme couponing have been on television, there have been a number of news reports about couponers saving a great deal on their groceries because of their use of coupons. News like this is just proof of how widely popular and practiced couponing really is.

Another duo who has been able to save hundreds, perhaps even thousands, is Traci Lira and Kathy McFadden. These two couponers have been good friends even since they were in high school. Even today, they still have the same interests, as they both love to collect coupons. They both started couponing as a hobby, but soon they were hooked on it. McFadden even said that collecting coupons was addicting.

Both McFadden’s and Lira’s homes have turned into little supermarkets with the amount of groceries that they have on stock. Their stockpiles are currently worth thousands of dollars, and can sustain their families for at least six months, even more.

On a recent trip to the grocery, McFadden and Lira had the biggest grocery trip so far. After spending hours at the store, the duo accumulated a total of $1,679.18 worth of grocery items. What is so amazing about this trip is that McFadden and Lira only paid $0.49 for all of it, after scanning all of the coupons.  The duo said that about 80 to 90 percent of the groceries that they just got would be donated to different organizations. Those coupons that they were not able to use will be donated to the Army.
