California-based SunRidge Farms/Falcon Trading Company, Inc. has announced a precautionary allergy alert on its product “SunRidge Farms All-Natural Milk Chocolate Cranberries.” This specific product may contain instead “Sunridge Farms All-Natural Milk Chocolate Toffee Peanuts” and thus might cause allergy attacks in some people.
The company has initiated this recall to ensure the safety of consumers and avoid allergy attacks. Specific information about the recalled product is the following:
“SunRidge Farms All-Natural Milk Chocolate Cranberries” with an item code of 868051, a lot code of 0211176 and a UPC code of 086700680513. The products have a net weight of 6.5 ounces and were made on the 21st of January 2011. There are 144 cases or a total of 1728 packs recalled for this lot.
“SunRidge Farms All-Natural Milk Chocolate Cranberries” with an item code of 021315, a lot code of 3271003 and a UPC code of 086700213155. The products have a net weight of 10 lbs and were made on the 29th of November 2010. There are 475 cases (bulk) recalled for this lot.
Peanut in all its forms is considered to be a food allergen. Most common symptoms of an allergy attack include hives, tongue or throat swelling, abdominal cramps, rash or eczema, dizziness, mouth tingling, having trouble breathing, diarrhea or vomiting and wheezing or coughing. If any of these symptoms are experienced after consumption of the product, consumers should immediately seek medical attention. There have been no reported allergy attacks that are related to the recalled product, however.
