Safeway’s recently implemented Pinterest promotion is already off to a good start. The promotion is the first for the retailer and has been successful so far.
At least 4,000 of the retailer’s Facebook fans have “liked” the post on its page announcing its Pinterest sweepstake that will be a $50 gift card given daily. About 300 of the fans commented on the announcement. To enter into the sweepstakes, customers have to ‘pin’ one or all of the eight dessert recipes by the retailer to their own personal Pinterest account pages. The customers also have to give their email address, as well as let the retailer know which of the recipes they have pinned. Some of the dessert recipes include apple tarts, owl cake, sugar cookies and pumpkin pie. Pinners are allowed to enter the recipes into the sweepstakes every day to have a chance at winning each day. Safeway will continue awarding the Safeway gift card worth $50 at random until January 2. The Pinterest promotion was launched on December 11.
Pinterest is an online pinboard that lets the members create, as well as manage, image collections that are theme-based, such as hobbies, for arts and recipes.
