Del Monte Fresh Produce has announced a recall for specific lots of its grape tomato products. These grape tomatoes are being recalled because of a possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall was announced May 9, after it was reported that some lots of grape tomatoes coming from Florida’s Six L’s Packing Co. are possibly contaminated by the Salmonella bacteria. The grape tomatoes are contained in clear plastic containers with a Roche Brothers label. The grape tomatoes c0me in 3 pound vegetable trio trays that also include Naturally Fresh ranch dip (8 ounce pack), baby carrots, broccoli and celery with a UPC code of 717524888013. Grape tomatoes contained in 16 oz. vegetable trio trays that have a UPC code of 715524304162 are also included in the recall. Although no related health incidences have been reported, the company is practicing caution as infections caused by Salmonella can lead to serious health risks. Symptoms of infection commonly include fever, vomiting, abdominal distress, nausea and sometimes bloody diarrhea. If the bacteria infiltrates the bloodstream, more serious illnesses might be possible.
