Partridges is a chain of family-run food stores, most of which are located in Central London. The company has its headquarters in London,UK.

History

Founder Richard Shepherd established Partridges in May of 1972. The first Partridges store was located at132 Sloane St. In 1979, Richard Shepherd was elected into the Parliament. Two years later, his brother John joined the business.

In 1984, expansion of Partridges was completed. Ten years after, the store relocated to King’s Road. In January of 1994, Partridges was given the “Royal Warrant.” This meant that the store is considered one of the grocers of the Queen of England. In 2008, John Shepherd became President of the Association of the holders of the Royal Warrant.

In 1998, Partridges opened its second shop at Gloucester Road. This was sort of a local Partridges, as it was smaller than its parent store. Despite being smaller in size, the Gloucester Road Partridges contained most of the items sold at the mother store. In particular, the Partridges store on Gloucester Road focused on selling American items. That store also remains open until late in the evening (11 pm) every day.

Over the years, Partridges has diversified into different areas, while still following Richard Shepherd’s ideals, which he set up when he founded the store. Today, Partridges stores are still supplied by its original suppliers, those that worked with the store ever since it was founded. The Partridges store on Sloane Square now has a café and wine bar. It also has a food market every Saturday, which is held outside of the shop. Partridges also have their own private label retail products that it exports. These products put more emphasis on environmentally friendly and organic products.

Recently, Partridges started offering online shopping for its customers, for those who are unable to visit the actual stores to shop for their food necessities. A wide variety of products are offered on its online shop, which include American foods, Confectionery, Delicatessen, Gifts, Honey, Savoury Meals, Rillettes and Terrinnes, Vinegar, Coffee and Tea.

Currently, Partridges offers free delivery of product orders, whether ordered at any Partridges store or online. Free delivery however is only applicable to specific postal zones, which are SW1, SW5, SW7, W1, W6, W14, WC2, SW3, SW6, SW10, W2, W8 and WC1.
