Target stores in western New York are currently undergoing major improvements to expand its grocery services by including a fresh produce section.

Out of the seven Target stores in that part of the state, two have already been made over and now include a fresh produce section. One revamped store is located in Amherst, at 1575 Niagara Falls Boulevard. The other revamped store is located in Niagara Falls, at 7414 Niagara Falls, Boulevard. The five other stores still undergoing improvements are the ones located in North Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Orchard Park, Depew and Williamsville.

Although a majority of Target stores already offer a wide variety of dry, as well as frozen goods, the addition of a fresh produce section even adds more product choices for customers of the store. In fact, the newly revamped store in Amherst has increased its dry goods display shelves from twenty to forty. The same store has also improved its home, kids, beauty, electronics and shoes departments by the installation of new fixtures and signs, as well as an improved lighting. The electronics department has been improved by including interactive displays.

Each fresh produce section that will be added to Target stores in New York will have an area of 10,000 square feet. In order to accommodate additional grocery items to the displays, the store will be cutting down on the number of displays per grocery item.

Overall, Target has expanded the grocery department of 450 of its stores all over the country. The company still has 850 stores set for expansion this year.
