Micheli Dairy Products is a company that is mainly engaged in the production of a variety of cheese products, including special cheeses. The company is headquartered in Ohio, USA.
History
Miceli’s history began in 1923 when 15-year old John Miceli started selling Italian cheeses by driving his pick up in the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. Miceli sold traditional mozzarella and ricotta cheeses to neighborhoods in Cleveland, and his cheeses were patronized by a number of residents in the city. This led to the foundation of Miceli Dairy Products, Inc.
Over the years, as the company continued to grow steadily, the company’s facilities were improved as well. In 1949, the company relocated to a new headquarters and that contributed to its continued growth. Ever since it was founded, the company remains owned and managed by the Miceli family, from John to his brother, Joe Miceli, to John’s children after his retirement and death.
Currently, John’s children Rosemarie, Carol and John, together with Joe and his grandchildren, are taking care of the business. They make sure that Miceli continues to provide the same outstanding quality in their products, as well as in customer service. Today, Miceli Dairy Products is one of the most recognized companies in the country when it comes to Italian cheeses and other specialty cheeses. It has become a leader in terms of producing ricotta cheeses. In fact, Miceli has become the largest ricotta cheese producer in the U.S.
Despite being in the business for more than 50 years, and despite the expansions that it has undergone, Miceli has always tried to maintain the old-world craftsmanship that has made its cheeses popular and patronized by its consumers. Miceli has also taken advantage of what modern technology has offered. It now uses the latest equipment in cheese production, as well as the latest equipment in packaging, in order to prolong the shelf life of its cheese and milk products without doing anything to change the natural flavor of the products.
The company currently produces traditional milk, whole milk, lite ricotta cheese, part-skim ricotta, mozzarella pears, fresh mozzarella, shredded cheese, grated parmesan and string cheese. Miceli cheeses are found sold in the deli and dairy departments in various grocery stores. In January of this year, the company announced its plans of expanding its facility in Cleveland, Ohio.
