Key Foods has been reevaluating and attempting to improve the quality and range of services that they are able to provide to their customers. Over the years, this has involved increasing the number of stores they have in the country and increasing the range of produce that they sell. Most rivals, such as Kroger, have been improving the quality of their products over the years, while continually reducing on the cost of the process. This has continued to put pressure on Key Foods to find ways of ensuring that they are able to keep their customers coming back. In an effort to revitalize their demand, Key Foods has plans of reopening a grocery store in New York’s Coney Island. This store was affected by hurricane Sandy and had to be closed. The opening of this store will have the grocery demand in the region go back to Key Foods and this is certainly a good way to cut away the competition in the market.
According to the vice president of business development at Key Foods, the hurricane badly affected the economic activities of the region and they are still trying to recover from the effects of the storm. The people in the region were badly hit and life seemed to have come to a standstill. Residents in the area are in sure need of their neighborhood grocery store. The store plans to reopen the Coney Island location with improved services for the people in the neighborhood. This is also expected to encourage more people to come back to their homes and help in building back the economy of the region.
