History
Ingles market was started in 1963 when its first location was opened by Robert “Bob” in Ashville, North Carolina. The company continued to expand and grow after its inception. In 1982, the company made a move of buying from Sealtest, a milk packaging and processing plant. Sealtest runs by the name Milkco Inc., a subsidiary that is wholly owned. More than sixty percent of Milkco’s businesses deal with products like tea, bottled water and citrus. In 1987, Ingles changed into a publicly traded company. The supermarket chain started establishing “Ingles Gas Express” gas stations in the 2000s in addition to putting up newer stores. Currently, Robert P. Ingle is the company’s CEO following the demise of Robert Ingle the elder in March 2011.

Do you carry non gmo lima beans? If so, what brand? I recently purchased fresh frozen vegetables (lima beans) and they did not taste like lima beans so I called the company and was told they were GMO beans. The inside was not consistent with an organic lima bean. Ugh
I love shopping at Ingles. I find the staff friendly and the store has reasonable prices. This comment is related to a produce item. I recently bought 4 boxes of strawberries labelled Florida Flash strawberries. I sincerely hope that you never purchase from this supplier again. The berries are dreadful with zero flavor. I have mentioned this to several friends an co workers who stated the same. I am unable to locate their contact information so I can share my disappointment in their strawberries. This is not typical of the products that I purchase from singles. Sincerely Lana
I recently read that strawberries are at the very top of the list for toxins and underneath the strawberry was the apple. Think I read this in natural news where they gave a diagram of the strawberry showing the inside of the strawberry containing cancer causing chemicals. Probably GMO’s laced with every chemical known to man.
Thank god for ingles’ they made a replacement wedding cake in four hours at the Thomasville store
we will be forever grateful.
Wonderful service-wonderful quality-wonderful associates and wonderful product. Aug.1,2015 for a family reunion I ordered a beautiful fruit bowl from your store# 27 located in Forest City NC. This fruit bowl was enjoyed by more than 50 people with many positive remarks about the freshness and flavor of ingredients. Your employees at this stores produce and customer service counter were a pleasure to work with and the fruit bowl was both beautiful and delicious. Please pass a great big thank you to Judy and her associates who were responsible for this wonderful experience. Thank you. Finch Bowyer
We stopped at your store in Powell, TN while traveling. Connie in the Deli helped us pick out lunch. She went above and beyond to serve us. I only wish you had a store near us.
On 03/23/2015 I was not able to buy any gallons of Harvest Organic Whole Milk from your Lincolnton store. None were in stock.
On a previous visit 03/10/2015 an enormous amount of these organic whole milk gallons were available. All had an expiration date of 03/17. I purchased 2 gallons. I usually buy 2 or 3. My wife and I use this excellent product as coffee creamer.
We are seriously concerned as this very same thing happened at the Lincolnton Harris-Teeter on a regular basis just before it’s closing.
My thinking is a slower seller such as organic whole milk gallons should be ordered in smaller quantities with staggered dates rather than large amounts with one expiration date.
I am 72 yrs. old and partially disabled. Making extra 12-mile trips back for a missing item is not my idea of a good day.
Thank you.
Do you sell cooking cream and where would I find it. Thank You Lori
Could you find out why the store in Thomasville NC has a hard time keeping the regular Our Pride Pimento Cheese in stock. I have went to the store several times and found plenty with Jalepenoes but none of the regular. Could you find out the reason or suggest that they order more. Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
I have been unable to get my “rewards” discount. I have tried at three of your own stations. I emailed customer service about two weeks ago, no response to date.
I am very concern about GMO labeling. Shoppers are entitled to know what is in the ingredients. Vermont is the first state to require GMO labeling. I hope the chain of Ingles stores will require GMO labeling.
I also like to report a downgrade in the produce department at the Clarkesville, Georgia. There is very limited selections in organic. The store does not have a big turn-around in resupplying organic products. Over-ripped produce are not pulled from the shelves (for example, avocadoes). The store does not provide a continued supply of organic avocadoes.
