Industria Alimentare Ferraro is a family owned pasta manufacturing company based in Italy. Although fresh egg pasta is the company’s primary product, it also manufactures frozen pasta and ready to eat meals.
History
Industria Alimentare Ferraro was founded by Mr. Pietro Ferraro in 1952. The business was started as a craft laboratory where egg pasta was made in various shapes. Initially, the company had only female employees. Ferraro named his products ‘Pasta Montegrappa’ because of his strong and deep love for his hometown of Monte Grappa.
Initially, the company manufactured Lasagna, Tagliatelle, and Pappardelle. The products of the company became very successful. By 1970, it decided to focus more on egg pasta with special shapes. Therefore, the production of the company was reduced to just two types of pasta – Lasagna and Caestelle. Due to the increased demand, Ferraro decided to expand the production from the craft laboratory to a large manufacturing plant. Thus, the company opened a production facility in 1970. This was the first one of its kind in Italy.
After the opening of the production facility, the production of egg pasta increased considerably. Ferraro started distribution centers outside Italy, including the USA, Holland, South Africa, Spain, England, Scandinavia, Ireland, Japan, Israel and Far East countries. The egg pasta manufactured by Industria Alimentare Ferraro became a favorite among its customers in all these countries.
Over the years, the company grew into one of the leading manufacturers of pasta in Italy. In 2002, the company sold 7.705.291 kilograms of pasta, which almost doubled to 14.574.199 kilograms by 2009. It also introduced two new brands to its product line including Schiavon and Pastificio Vicentino.
Today, the company has two production facilities in Italy, where two types of pasta are made. Both the plants are built according to the rules and regulations of the European food industry. It also has packaging facilities, which ensure all the products are manufactured as well as packaged at the same plant. All the products are directed to distribution chains and catering companies in Italy and many other countries. It also has fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable egg pasta, and ready to eat meals. Moreover, all the products are certified by ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP control system.
