History
HyLife™ Foods’ history started with the establishment of Springhill Farms in September of 1986. This farm was jointly-owned by a group of colonies from Hutterite Brethren.
By January of 2008, Springhill Farms was already employing 290 employees and processing 3,250 heads everyday. These meat products were either sold as frozen meat products or sold as fresh carcass. A month after, Springhill Farms was acquired by Hytek Ltd. The new owner, Hytek, was a company that evolved into a ‘farm-to-fork’ operation and so was able to offer the opportunity of organization re-branding. In 2011, Hytek’s name was changed to HyLife™, representing the company’s promise to supply consumers with only high-quality food products while maintaining the values that made HyLife™ (then Hytek) successful. Along with the change in the company’s name came a change in the company’s logo. This new logo represented an incorporated business brand starting with a food source that is trusted, and one that results in a premium quality pork product on every consumer’s plate.
The hogs that are processed by the facility are all vegetarian-fed and hormone free. HyLife™’s pork products are all natural and are free from antibiotics and preservatives. The pork products are all minimally processed, and is not added with any artificial ingredients. With this, HyLife™ Foods’ pork products are assured to be safe, in premium quality and offers delicious taste.
Currently, HyLife has its main offices in La Broquerie, Manitoba. The company is now considered as one of the biggest hog-production company in the country and is among the top 15 hog production companies in all of North America. Working with its affiliate companies, HyLife™ has extended its operations to the USA and China.
In 2011, HyLife™ was given recognition as one of the “Best Managed Companies in Canada(Platinum Status). In April of 2011, Springhill Farms, a subsidiary of HyLife™, was renamed HyLife™ Foods. This renaming was part of the company’s model for an integrated business. Despite the change in name, the values that have guided and have been practiced by the company remain the same.
