Sites like Groupon and LivingSocial offer consumers deals that sometimes have expiration dates. According to statistics, about 20% of these deals are not used.
It is a good thing that resale websites now exist to give consumers an opportunity to unburden themselves with unused coupons. Sites like LifeSta, DealsGoRound and CoupRecoup are just the perfect sites for unloading these coupons.
The site DealsGoRound.com allows a user to list those unused coupons he wants to sell. Posting in this site is free, however, if the coupons are sold, the user has to give 10% of his earnings to the site. Thus, basically, DealsGoRound works like how eBbay works, as an intermediate between sellers and buyers. For payment purposes, both seller and buyer should have active PayPal accounts.
Another resale site, LifeSta.com, operates in almost the same manner as DealsGoRound. The difference between the two websites is that with LifeSta, users (sellers) are required to pay 0.99 cents and 8% of the user’s coupon earnings. The buyer however, does not have to pay the site anything, only the price of the coupon that is being sold. LifeSta offers refunds to the buyers if it is found that the coupons that were sold have already been used or is invalid. The site will only issue refunds within 60 days from the date of purchase.
Another resale site, CoupRecoup.com, works by letting the buyer and seller connect directly with each other. If a buyer sees a deal that he likes, he will fill out a form indicating his offer price. This form will then be sent to the seller. If the seller agrees to the price or is open for negotiation, they will be the ones to arrange the deal and their mode of payment.
