Hershey's Hershey’s is one of the leading chocolate and sugar confectionery manufacturers in the world. Its products are renowned worldwide. It also runs the Milton Hershey School providing education and financial support for kids from low income families.

History
The Hershey Chocolate Company was founded in 1894 by Milton Hershey. The first manufacturing plant was opened in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Later, the company expanded its product line and started making milk chocolates in various shapes and sizes. The company also made them at a low cost so that even the poor could enjoy chocolate.

Hershey’s Kisses were introduced in 1907. Over the next 20 years, the company introduced more products including Krackel Bar, Hershey’s Syrup, Mr. Goodbar Candy Bar, and Hershey’s Chocolate Chips. It also survived the Great Depression. During World War II, Hershey’s manufactured chocolate especially for the military and received five awards for its efforts.

After the war, more products were introduced. In 1956, the company acquired H. B. Reese Candy Company, makers of peanut butter cups. The name of the company was changed to Hershey Foods Corporation in 1968. Over the next few decades, it acquired many other companies like San Giorgio Macaroni, Y& S Candies, Delmonico Foods, Dietrich Corp, Ronzoni Foods, and the U.S. confectionery business of PeterPaul/Cadbury.

In December 2007, it discontinued the production of Ice Breakers Pacs. In 2008, it also started using vegetable oil, instead of cocoa butter as an emulsifier. Over the years, new products have been introduced by Hershey’s, and it has built a worldwide reputation.
