419px-BatteriesDuracellAA_AAADuracell is an American line of battery products manufactured by the Procter and Gamble company. Duracell produces alkaline batteries of all of the sizes available in the market. The major sizes of batteries that the company produces include 9V, C, D, AAA, AA. The least used variety is the AAA, which is commonly used in pagers, blood glucose meters, and penlights. J sized batteries are usually used in hospital devices and photographic strobe flash units. In 2008, Duracell entered into a brand licensing agreement with the company called Dane-Elec, which used to manufacture flash memory. This agreement allowed Duracell to produce hard drives, memory cards, and USB flash disks using their Duracell trademarks and the brand’s trademark copper top.

Duracell manufactures all types of batteries including the NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) rechargeable batteries that are used in cameras and hearing aids. Their main battery brands are the copper top and the Ultra. The copper top are the longer lasting variety, while the Ultra are preferred in digital devices that have high power needs. The top performing brand in 2013 was the Duracell Quantum.

Duracell has been innovative in their product quality, as well as their product design. Over the past few years, Duracell has increased their product portfolio to include the prismatic battery designs. These batteries are prismatic in shape rather than the normal cylindrical shape. This is a big break from the norm, but the market reception was good for the product line. In 2006, Duracell invented the Power Pi batteries that run on the NiOx (nickel oxyhydroxide) technology. These were designed to give longer battery power in digital cameras and other devices that have higher power requirements.
