Dean Foods Company is a dairy manufacturer which distributes milk and other dairy products to all parts of the USA. It is also the leading supplier of milk beverages in Europe.
History
Dean Foods Company was founded in 1925 by Samuel E. Dean, Sr. in Illinois. He bought the Pecatonica Marketing Company, an evaporated milk processing company, and renamed it Dean Evaporated Milk Company in 1928. After that, the company grew by acquiring other dairy companies in Illinois.
In 1929, the company became Dean Milk Company. It went public in 1961 with 1,800 shareholders. In 1963, it was renamed as Dean Foods Company. Also, it moved its headquarters to Franklin Park, Illinois. Over the next few decades, the company expanded its business to most parts of America. In the 1980s, it was known as DF on the New York Stock Exchange.
In 2001, the company was acquired by Suiza Food Corporation, the leading dairy processing company at the time. Suiza Food Corporation became a leader by acquisition of many dairy companies over the years. After the acquisition, Suiza was renamed Dean Foods Company, and its symbol on the New York Stock Exchange was changed to DF. The headquarters of the company was in Dallas.
In 2002, the company bought White Wave, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado. At the time, it was famous for its Silk brand of soy milk. In 2004, the company bought another manufacturer of organic milk and milk products, Horizon Organic Holding Corporation. It also formed a division named White Wave Foods and started the production of Silk and organic milk products under that name. In 2005, the name of Dean Specialty Foods was changed to TreeHouse Foods, and this company manufactured dressings, pickles and dips. In 2009, Dean Foods Company bought Alpro, which was a leading soy based milk products manufacturer in Europe.

I have been lost for years without IMO. Please bring it back. It was no longer available when I left CA in 2004. I been in NV for 14 years and still can not locate it. I read Whole Foods might carry it. There is a Whole Foods in Reno. I’ll check and get back.
Need/want IMO! Can’t stand sour cream! BRING IT BACK!
I have been looking for IMO and have not gotten any information on why it is no longer handled in local stores. Did the new folk at Dean Foods decide to discontinue it? I have found a sour cream substitute in the Dollar Store. The price is right, but miss my IMO these past years.
I WANT MY IMO!!!!!! HERE IN CALIFORNIA, I CAN NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE! I HATE SOUR CREAM. IT TURNS RUNNING. THE TASTE IS EEEEWWWWWWWW. PLEASE BRING IMO BACK.
I can no longer find it. It kept my guacamole looking fresh and I wasn’t concerned about it being out too long at a party as with sour cream.
I have been looking for imo for months. I have been unable to find it in any of the grocery stores near me. It appears in listings for Amazon Why can I not find it locally in/ near Seattle, WA?
Continue to look for IMO in Tacoma, Wash and still not available anywhere. Come on Dean Foods, this is obviously a popular item and in demand. Why would you not bring it back? There is nothing on the market to replace it.
please bring back imo!! I need it!
Went to make fruit salad using IMO, only to find, it was discontinued several years ago! What a bummer! My Aunt used to make the same fruit salad with sour cream… YUCK. I WANT IMO. San Diego would appreciate it, definitely around Thanksgiving.
Does IMO still exist? If it does, where can I purchase it in Southern Oregon?
