Dainty Foods is a subsidiary company of MRRM, Inc. headquartered in Quebec, Canada.
History
Dainty was created through the establishment of Mount Royal Milling & Manufacturing Co. Limited. The company’s founder was Robert Reford, a prominent figure in the industry of shipping. When MRMM was founded, Reford bought Parklyn Flour Mill and converted it to a rice mill, the first of its kind in Canada. Reford subsequently bought Thermopylae, a clipper ship, for transporting rice from South America, Spain, and the Far East.
In 1946, MRMM became Mount Royal Rice Mills Limited (MRRM) when it had its first public offering on the Montreal Stock Exchange. In the same year, MRRM created a subsidiary that adopted the name of its flagship brand for packaged rice, hence the establishment of Dainty Foods Ltd.
About twenty years after, in 1966, operations done at the Lachine mill were transferred to the newly- completed facility in Windsor, Ontario. This new mill placed the company’s operations closer to the rice fields of the United States.
Currently, Dainty’s facility in Windsor processes over 120 million pounds of rice every year. The company’s facilities and operations are consistently being updated, the most recent being the addition of Dainty’s Time-Wise™ technology. This exclusive technology reduces the rice’s cooking time by 2/3 without having to sacrifice product quality. Dainty believes that it is able to maintain its leadership in the rice industry by adopting advanced technologies and enhanced standards of quality control.
Today, Dainty Foods is one of the country’s leaders in producing rice products. Together with Robert Reford, its sister company, Dainty Foods continues to flourish and maintain its position at the top.

Why is it that you no longer make or sell delmonico rice in the can, it was one of our family’s favorite rice although others you make are great ,I miss that taste of delmonico maybe someone could explain the sudden stop of production
Hello Dainty – I have sent this inquiry into your website re the grains that were mixed into this $9 bag of rice which is resistant to water!!!….Seriously? Is this the food fraud of adding plastic grains as rice – and is this why there is no expiry date on the rice? Please refund my money before I take further action – and I will ensure the store manager pulls the product.! It would have been better just to increase the price of the rice and keep the quality – this is pathetic!
Please tell me where I could Dainty Rice white short grain in the Montreal area
