Blair’s Snacks and Sauces is an American company best known for producing the hottest sauce products possible in the country. In fact, the company’s hottest product, ‘16 Million Reserve,’ has been awarded the Guinness World Record’s Hottest Product in the Food Category.
History
Blair’s Snacks and Sauces was founded in 1989 by Blair Lazar, when he discovered that he could create a business out of his hot sauce, which he had named ‘Death Sauce.’ As soon as he realized the potential of his creation, he began bottling and distributing his ‘Death Sauce’ and soon after he began creating hot sauces with varying degrees of hotness.
Undoubtedly, Blair’s Snacks and Sauces is most popularly known for its Death Sauce brand. These hot sauces range from the original Death Sauce to sauces of lesser heat (Sweet Heat) to ones that are extremely hot (Ultra Death Sauce). A few years after the company’s foundation, Blair’s ‘16 Million Reserve’ product received a Guinness World Record Award for being the hottest food product in the world.
Blair’s ‘Reserve Collection’ was also created in the early part of the 1990s. These products were produced in a limited amount and are now currently considered as collector’s items to those who patronize extremely hot food products. In fact, in 2004, a bottle of Blair’s Reserve Collection was reportedly sold in a private sale for $5450 to a European collector.
The latest in the line of Blair’s Snacks and Sauces are the Death Rain products. These are kettle-cooked potato chips which have been incorporated with the signature hot flavor of Blair’s Death Sauce. The hottest variety of these potato chips ise the Habanero Chips variety (Death Rain potato chips sold in black retail bags). This potato chip variety has been described as XXX hot. Other varieties of Death Rain potato chips include Chipotle, Buffalo Wing, Parmesan Habanero, Jalapeno Cheddar and Cajun. All of the products are in the medium heat level of hotness.
Because of the uniqueness of the company and its products, Blair’s Snacks and Sauces has been featured on several television shows and print media such as FoodTV’s Unwrapped, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, the Wall Street Journal, and Rolling Stone Magazine.
