AMPI is a dairy cooperative that processes and distributes billions of dairy products to different parts of the country. The company’s headquarters are located in Minnesota, USA

History
AMPI was founded in the year 1969, when more than a hundred dairy farmers came together for the purpose of adding more value to the milk they were producing at their respective farms. Initially, AMPI was formed in three regions of the country: Southern, Central and North. In 1971, the number of AMPI’s members totaled 45,000.

In 1972, operations of the Central and Northern regions of AMPI combined to form North Central AMPI. Three years later, the company’s cheese processing plant in Wisconsin and its instant powder facility in Iowa were transferred to North Central AMPI.

In 1982, the company was able to acquire a secondary manufacturing plant and a cheese production facility in the area of Dawson, Minnesota. Four years after, AMPI completed its largest acquisition when it bought Falls Dairy Company of Wisconsin. The acquisition was made possible when North Central AMPI merged with another cooperative, Morning Glory Farms.

In 1998, AMPI Southern Region separated from North Central AMPI and joined Dairy Farmers of America. Three years later, the company’s earnings reached $10.8 million from a total sales of around $1.2 billion. In 2007, AMPI completed the acquisition of Cass-Clay Creamery Incorporated, a company based in North Dakota.

Currently, AMPI produces dairy products such as fluid milk, cheese and butter. Every year, the company converts over six million pounds of their harvested milk into different dairy products. Ever since AMPI was founded, it has steadily grown and is now operating 14 manufacturing facilities located in different states. It has also been producing products bearing the Cass-Clay brand, aside from its flagship brand. Aside from producing its own retail dairy products, AMPI also produces dairy products for private-label companies, food service operators and fast food companies. The company, all throughout its existence, has continually kept to its promise of producing wholesome dairy products for consumers in the country.

Dairy farmers who are members of this cooperative company come from different states such as Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Currently, the cooperative has a total of 3,500 members and employs around 1,700 people.
