Arlan’s Market is a family-owned business headquartered in Seabrook, Texas. This grocery store is owned and operated by the Arlan family.
History
Arlan’s Market was founded by Ames Arlan, who still is the company’s residing President. From being a sacker in a grocery store when he was young to being a Supervisor, Ames realized that his calling was in business and thus created Arlan’s Market.
Currently, there are three branches of Arlan’s Market, which is primarily based in Seabrook, Texas. Other branches of this store can be found in Crosby and Galveston. Continuous improvements have been made in the grocery stores since they were first opened. The latest improvements of which is the renovation or remodeling of Arlan’s Market in Seabrook. The newly renovated Seabrook store now offers a bistro next to the deli section. This addition was done with the intention of giving the customers a more relaxed atmosphere while shopping.
Currently, Ames’ son Nick helps in managing the business, being the vice president as well as the manager of the company. Nick’s wife Karen also works for the company and is based in the Seabrook Headquarters. Another company executive, Michael Grant has been a long time friend, as well as a business associate. Most of Arlan’s employees have been in the company for many of years and have been with the company from its small beginnings. This is just one proof that Arlan’s Market is not just a business organization but a community of friends, as well.
Arlan’s Market prides itself in providing its customers with excellent quality service. Their grocery stores are reputed to be staffed with helpful, friendly and courteous people. The company may not offer full-service stores as of now, but what they lack, they make up for with great customer service and excellent quality goods. Among the products that are sold in Arlan’s Market include great quality meats; local, as well as international brands of liquor, fresh produce, breads and pastries, good quality seafood. The store has a deli department which includes a wide list of Boars Head cheeses, as well as a selection of sliced meat. Also included in the stores deli list is Arlan’s own line of sausages, which are also popular with the stores’ shoppers. Also found in the stores is a wide display of flower arrangements and a display of ethnic foods.

I love all of the updates you are making at the Arlan’s store in Cameron. I have shopped at Harlan’s since moving to Cameron about 8 years ago. The staff is always friendly and polite. The store has always been easy to navigate and find what I need. The meat market is the best around and I have seen positive changes in the produce area. The new paint and signs make the store even more inviting. I am very proud that my son has worked there for the past two years and that they have been so willing to work with his high school schedule.Keep up the great work!!
I am so pleased with the Cameron Arlan’s store and go there at least twice a week to replenish things like milk and bread. Love the new shopping carts and I must comment on Tyler who works there. I love it when he is working as cashier. With every item he scans he always says “and here we go” in the most pleasant way. It never fails to make me grin. He always smiles, is so very pleasant and sweet. Hope he has plans on sticking around a while. At the same token, everyone who works there is pleasant and courteous, there is always someone who asks if I have found everything I came for. I never get that at Brookshire Brothers. Those folks there don’t smile at all. Big difference, plus they’re way too pricey. Thank goodness we do have Arlan’s!!!
I live in Schulenburg, TX. Arlen’s just came to town about a month ago. Two weeks ago I brought to the attention of the manager that the American flag was VERY worn and tattered. His reply was that he will get one ordered right away. A few days ago I seen another manager out in town and asked to replace the flag as it is an insult, not only to the Flag but to ALL of us who served to protect it. I went to the store today to pick up some items for lunch. Upon arriving I saw that the same tattered flag flying. Again I went to a manager and asked to at least take it down and was scoffed at as he walked away! I told him I will NOT spend my money at a store that shows such disregard for the Flag. Replace the Flag or take it down!
Sorry to say the store yall just bought in Cameron TX may need some major improvements
I just turned in an application today they have a sign that says they are hiring but the store manager said if they have anything come up open they will give me a call so what about the sign on the door I have worked produce and other departments in the same store before yall bought it but I quit because the manager wouldn’t give me more money sorry but y’all need to make some improvements there that’s just my thought
Sadly, this is the 3rd time I’ve purchased milk at Crosby’s Arlans store, which had a future expiration date but was bad. Also purchased very expensive “Boars head” Sweet Slice Ham (sliced by meat market / end piece of the ham that was open). When I got home I opened it to make a sandwich and it smelled awful. I thought I was going to be sick. Never again. I’ve been burned too many times. Can’t believe the butcher didn’t open up a new package of Boars Head ham instead of selling me that rancid mess. I believe they keep the refrigerators too high; therefore things go bad quickly, like the gallon of milk I had to throw out.
I am sorry- after reading the entire thread of the racist comments and just plain silliness I have to step in and give my 2 cents…..
Whomever played the “racist” card is sadly mistaken. I personally know the Arlan family and worked as a vender for them for YEARS. I have to say that Nick Arlan showed me more respect than any other store EVER did. You are talking about a store in Crosby TX for crying out loud- MOST OF THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE THERE ARE WHITE! The Galveston store has more of a range of ethnicity due to the population in that area. I have never once even felt that RACE was an issue with this equal opportunity employer.
Secondly: for a mom and pop operation Arlans Market is one of the BEST in Houston….. You don’t like their selection and don’t like their service, or their range of ethnicity in the store? GO TO FIESTA….
Arlans Market is one of the cleaner and tidy independant stores I have ever been in (again go to fiesta) and their staff is more curdious than most. I would spend my hard earned money anytime with them and will continue to do this. It is a grocery store and I just find it funny to see someone upset because you didn’t get hired played the RACE card…… Grow up PLEASE!
I live northwest austin ,and whenever I am on that side of town ,I will stop at the Arlan’s market, You guys have nice cuts of meat ,and I also like that you have some items that other stores do not have ,My complaint is your items are overpriced compared to some of the other stores is it because you are a privately owned family business?
Do you own the store in Magnolia? If so, what is the Company policy about calling 911 in an emergency situation? An elderly lady tripped and fell in the parking lot on Saturday July 27, 2013. The staff did nothing to assist in any way. They said they would be fired if they called 911.
I’m sooooo disappointed that the Arlan’s in South Austin, Ben White & South 1st is closed :( I didn’t even know they were closing it. My mother and I were just there like maybe 2 weeks ago. I wish I would have been informed about this through FB:( your business is ALWAYS posting folks at meetings but to NOT post this store closure is disappointing:(!!! Makes me now wonder if the other 2 locations are in jeopardy of closing as well. If this does happen PLEASE announce it through FB….
I recently moved to Austin from the Crosby area and was excited to shop at the Ben White location except for the “Black Nugget” doesn’t work there. Anyway, after a month in the area, this location closed. Any news on what will happen to the building? I miss Arlan’s!
