L&M Companies Inc. has announced a voluntary recall for its whole cucumber product due to a possible bacterial contamination.
The recall was initiated after the U.S. FDA informed the company that random sample testing had been done on the cucumbers and some of those tested were found positive for the Salmonella bacteria. The testing was done in Central Florida, at a Four Seasons Produce last April 13. The samples taken were stored in a cooler. The company is currently working with the FDA in investigating the matter and in informing retailers and customers regarding the product recall.
It is emphasized that only one lot of whole cucumbers are suspected of being infected with Salmonella. The specific lot that has been recalled is lot number PL-RID-002990. This information is found on the carton’s side. The cartons are labeled Nature’s Delight.
The recalled cucumbers were harvested on the 29th of March at South Florida and will remain to be edible for ten to fourteen days after being harvested.
Salmonella is a harmful bacteria that can cause serious health risks. In healthy people, common symptoms of infection include high fever, nausea, abdominal pain and in some cases bloody diarrhea. There have been cases where Salmonella has been able to infiltrate the bloodstream and has caused arterial diseases, endocarditis and arthritis.
The recalled cucumbers have been distributed in different areas, namely: New York (200 cartons), Illinois (139 cartons), Tennessee (15 cartons), Nebraska (92 cartons), Wyoming (101 cartons), Florida (591 cartons), Indiana (30 cartons), Nebraska (92 cartons) and Texas (2 cartons).
Consumers and Retailers who still have the recalled cucumbers are advised to discard it or call the company regarding the matter. They may contact the company at 919 981 8003 from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time.
So damn it, what stores were the cucumbers sold too? You’re not telling us a damn thing.
