On December 9, an announcement was made for the limited recall of certain batches of Tejava® Premium Iced Tea. The recall was made because of the possibility that small fragments of glass may be present in the product. Swallowing these glass fragments could cause serious harm to the body.

The product recall applies to the following lot date codes: 1BT220, 1BT252, 1BT277, 1BT313, 1BT221, 1BT253, 1BT278, 1BT222, 1BT254, 1BT279, 1BT223, 1BT255, 1BT280. These date codes are found at the back of the bottle’s label, as well as on the case tray’s long panel. Affected UPC codes are 6-54871-24901-2, 6-54871-04901-1 (4-pack case), and 6-54781-00901-5 (single bottle-case). The product is packed in 12-ounce glass bottles. The product has been distributed all throughout the country.

To date, there have been no reports of any medical emergency that is related to the recalled iced tea. Tejava has initiated the recall out of caution, in order to prevent consumers from any possible harm that can occur by consuming the iced tea. Tejava emphasizes however, that 1-litre sizes of Tejava® Premium Iced Tea are not included in the recall. No other Tejava® products are included in the recall.

Consumers who may have bought the recalled product are advised to dispose of it, or return it to the store. They will receive a replacement, or a refund.
