Minneapolis-based food manufacturing giant General Mills has launched a new product that gives the all-time favorite cupcake a fun twist. This new product, called the “Betty Crocker Fun da-Middles,” is said to be the first of its kind.

Currently, the industry of cupcakes is considered to be one of the fastest growing in the food industry. Because cupcakes have long been well loved by consumers, entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the snack’s popularity and likeability. General Mills is also making the most of cupcakes by making it even more appealing to kids and moms alike.

The new Betty Crocker Fun da-Middles cupcake is different from other cupcakes because it has frosting on the inside, instead of the traditional outside frosting. No other cupcake maker is said to have developed a cupcake of this kind, making the product unique in the market. The product is actually a cupcake mix that has been designed to include a filling that will bake in the middle of the cupcake. Because there is no longer a need to frost the outside of the cupcake, this mix is your ideal mess-free snack for school or for work.

The cupcake mix batter just needs to be added with water, eggs and oil. The mixture is then poured into cupcake liners, approximately a third of the way. A small amount of the filling is then squeezed into the cupcake’s center and then more batter is topped onto the cupcake before it is baked. Every box of this cupcake mix with filling makes about 12 regular-sized cupcakes or 24 mini-sized ones.

Varieties include: “Vanilla Cake with Creamy Chocolate Filling,” “Vanilla Cake with Creamy Vanilla Filling” and “Chocolate Cake with Creamy Vanilla Filling.” Betty Crocker Fun da-Middles is now available in retail stores with a suggested selling price of $3.29.
