Harris Teeter Supermarkets will be converting two of its stores and begin operating them under a new specialty banner dubbed the 201central. The renovation of these 30, 000 square foot stores, which were acquired in a store swap with Lowe’s Foods earlier this year, is already ongoing.
The 201 in the name is borrowed from one of Harris Teeter’s old store location, which was known as Store #201 on Central Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company was then known as Harris Food Stores.
The specialty stores will have on its aisles all that one needs when planning parties or any other celebration. The supermarkets plan to theme the two stores around party planning. The specialty stores, which will open in October, will be located at 13108 Eastfield Road in Huntersville and 5939 Weddington-Monroe Road in Wesley Chapel, in North Carolina.
For the perfect party, the specialty stores will carry wide selections of over 3,100 wines and 600 beers, including local brands such as Carolina Brewing, Red Oak and Olde Meckenburg; breads, cheeses, olives, cigars, coffee, tea, nuts, rice and other snack items and beverages. Some of the specialty services that will be on offer include in-store wine consultants, catering, party rentals, event coordination and classes that will give advice on wine and food pairings.
The specialty stores will also have wine making and home brewing systems, kitchen and household appliances and other general merchandise. Harris Teeter supermarkets has announced further that it will have more variety of international foods such as from the Middle East, Indian, kosher, Mexican, Italian and other regions, as well as local products of sauces, dips and salad dressings.
