Kansas-based food company Velvet Créme Popcorn Co. issued a product recall December 15. The products involved are Velvet Créme Peanut Brittle, Velvet Créme Sweet Cajun Heat, and Velvet Créme Tail Gate Crunch.

The above-mentioned products are being recalled because of a mislabelling problem, resulting in several allergens being undeclared on the products’ packaging. The food allergens, milk, wheat and soy, can trigger allergic reactions for people who are hypersensitive to it. In some cases, these allergic reactions can lead to more serious medical emergencies.

Specific information about the recalled products is the following:

Velvet Créme – Brand

Product Descriptions
Peanut Brittle – packed in 4-ounce cellophane bags, contains the allergen milk.
Tail Gate Crunch – packed in 8-ounce cellophane bags and 1-pound cellophane bags, contains the allergens wheat and soy.
Sweet Cajun Heat – Packed in 8-ounce cellophane bags and 1-pound cellophane bags, contains the allergens soy and wheat.

The specified products do not indicate any lot codes. However, those products that are affected by the recall were sold prior to the 13th of December, 2011. The company emphasizes that the recalled products are not harmful to consumers who are not allergic to any form of soy, wheat, or milk.

To date, no allergy attacks or medical emergencies have been reported that are connected to the recalled products.

Consumers who may have purchased these recalled products are strongly encouraged to dispose of it, or return it to the retail store located in Westwood (in Kansas).
