Christie Cooking Co. has issued an allergy alert on some of its gift tins because of the presence of undeclared allergens in the cookies that they contain. The recall was announced by the company during the early weeks of August.

The recall was made after it was found that some cookies in specific gift tins contained eggs, wheat, soy lecithin or milk, which were not indicated as part of the ingredients. These ingredients are known to be common food allergens which cause allergy attacks in some people. In worst cases, allergy attacks might turn into more serious health risks, especially in children, pregnant women or elderly people.

Specific information about the recalled products are the following: ‘DoubleTree 6-Cookie Gift Tin,’ with a net weight of 13.5 ounces and an item number 1035; ‘DoubleTree Anniversary Special,’ which contains two gift tins with 6 cookies each, having a net weight of 27 ounces and an item number of 10352; ‘DoubleTree 12-Cookie Gift Tin,’ with a net weight of 27 ounces and an item number of 1037; ‘DoubleTree 15-Cookie Gift Tin,’ with a net weight of 33.75 ounces and an item number of 1038 and ‘DoubleTree 24-Cookie Gift Tin,’ with a net weight of 54 ounces and an item number of 1039.

The gift tins were distributed in different parts of the country either by direct mail or through DoubleTree Hotels, where the products are sold. No allergy attacks related to this product have been reported currently.

Customers who bought the recalled gift tins, who might be allergic to the mentioned undeclared ingredients, are encouraged to dispose of it. They may also call 615-242-3817 and ask for Bob Turner for more information about the recall.
