British grocery chain Asda has announced a recall on its ‘Asda Chosen By You’ beverages because of a possible choking hazard with the products. The recall was announced after it was found that the containers’ sport caps have a white shutter that could easily become loose. If the shutter has become loosened and falls into the sports drink, it could become a choking hazard to the person drinking the beverage.
The recall covers all of the date codes of the affected ‘Asda Chosen By You’ beverage products. The beverage is available in six varieties: Apple (barcode 0505141383420), Apple and Blackcurrant (barcode 0505141383423), Tropical (barcode 0505141383422), Strawberry and Apple (barcode 0505141383419), Orange (barcode 0505141383421) and ‘Great Stuff Eden Falls Water (barcode 0505085401370). All varieties are packed in 6 by 300 millilitre bottles. The product is sold for £1.12 each. These beverages were available in Asda Stores in different parts of the country. Asda emphasized that no other product is affected by the recall aside from those that have been specified.
The recall was announced on the 27th of August and has been done as a means of precaution. A notice of product recall has also been released in order to notify all consumers and stockists of this product. Asda urges consumers who have bought the recalled product to not consume it. Instead, Asda strongly advises consumers to take the recalled beverage to an Asda store nearest to their location. They will be given a full refund for the product. Stockists and consumers who might have concerns about the recall may call the store’s Customer Relations department at 0800 952 0101.
