Agri-Mark, Incorporated is a dairy cooperative located in the northeastern part of the United States and headquartered in Methuen, Massachusetts.

History
Agri-Mark was founded in 1916 as a cooperative composed of dairy farmers. It was originally named New England Milk Producers Association, but the name was changed to Agri-Mark, Incorporated in 1980.

The cooperative began to flourish in the beginning of the twentieth century. With the merging of Agri-Mark and Cabot Creamery in 1992, all its farmer members were assured that the time-honored and valuable Cabot® brand would continue to exist in the market, as well as the popular Vermont aged cheddar cheese and creamery butter.

In 2003, Agri-Mark went into a merger with another cooperative, Chateaugay Cooperative. With this merging, the cooperative completed the acquisition of the MacCadam Cheese assets, which included a production facility in Chateaugay. Among the MacCadam Cheese product line are the award-winning and popular Muenster, New York Cheddar and European cheeses.

In 2004, Agri-Mark worked closely with Allied Federated Cooperative, another major dairy cooperative in the country, to find ways to sell milk in a more efficient way. To formalize their partnership, both cooperatives signed an agreement to make Ed Pcolar the general manager of Allied. In 2007, Agri-Mark’s Cabot Cheddar Cheese received a $149,000 grant from the USDA. This grant was used for the expansion and further improvement of Cabot cheddar cheese.

Currently, Agri-Mark produces Cabot-brand cheeses, as well as cheeses under the MacCadam cheese brand. The cooperative produces different kinds of cheeses, such as cheddar and European cheeses. Agri-Mark also manufactures cultured dairy products and butter. They currently have over 1,200 members in New York, Massachusetts and New England. The farms produce a total of about 300 million gallons of milk every year.

Aside from its retail products, Agri-Mark also supplies milk and dairy ingredients to food manufacturers and bottlers, as well as industrial companies in the Eastern part of the country. The cooperative currently has processing facilities in Vermont, New York and Massachusetts.

In order to maintain Cabot®’s and MacCadam Cheese®’s customer base, Agri-Mark continues to implement very strict standards when it comes to milk quality.
