GFS Pecan Pieces Nut Bar Company Incorporated announced a product recall on Thursday regarding its GFS Pecan Pieces. The products were recalled because of an undeclared allergen.

The recall was made after it was discovered that the product, which contained walnuts, did not list the specific nut as part of its ingredients. Investigation of the situation revealed that a temporary problem occurred in the company’s packaging process. The company specified that only one lot is affected by the recall. The product’s lot number is found at the top of each retail pack. Lot 095 1094 contained 360 individual retail bags, or 90 cases of pecan pieces. UPC code for the said lot is 093901134837. Each retail bag weighs 40 ounces and were exclusively distributed by Gordon Food Services (GFS). The company is already taking actions to inform retailers not to market the products.

People who have allergies to walnuts may suffer serious health incidences after consumption of products that have it. At the time of the recall however, no allergy attacks were reported because of it.

The recalled pecan pieces were distributed in the states of Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Illinois, Kansas, Montana and Tennessee. The products were distributed to marketplaces and restaurants.

Customers who bought the recalled pecan pieces are urged to return the product to the store where they bought them. They can also ask for a refund once they have the product returned. They can also call Nut Bar at 1-800-821-1067 from 8 AM until 4:30 PM, Eastern Time. The company is available to assist from Monday until Friday.
