Edwards Food Giant, with supermarkets and convenience stores located in Arkansas, works to be more than just a corporate establishment in the local communities. Edwards FG and FG express remains family operated, and owners of the business participate in local and state committees and boards just to make sure they keep up with the needs and demands of their communities and customers.
History
Being in the grocery business for several years in Tennessee and Missouri, Oral Edwards got his chance to bring his expertise in to a new store as part-owner in 1962. At the time, the grocery was considered very large and innovative. Forrest City, Arkansas was now home to Oral Edwards and his family, their new Liberty City Supermarket growing rapidly.
With the help of some partners, Edwards opened a second store in Helena, Missouri by 1964. The final construction of the Helena Bridge over the Mississippi river created a growth spurt which helped promote the success of the grocery retailer. By 1975, Oral’s son Steve entered the supermarket business. In addition to owning GES, Inc., Oral and Steve Edwards also own Tobacco Warehouse, operating convenience stores. The success of Edwards Food Giant and FG Express operation can be gauged not only by store size and loyal customers, but also by the fact that they have outlasted an influx of Wal-Mart Supercenters. Edwards Food Giant constantly works to upgrade and improve each department and store according to consumer needs and demands. A new location in Little Rock offers and meats and seafood department, while a Harrisburg location has a sit-down restaurant, a pharmacy and a full service bank. This location specifically is known as a family center, giving customers a one stop location to dine, shop and bank with ease.

The Cantrell/Tanglewood Store several times over the last few weeks have rung sales items at a higher price..if the customer does not catch it then they are charged regular price. Last nite the Dole Salad rang up a $1.00 more than sales price. Got it and corrected. Over the last few weeks sales items such as chips at a $1.00 rang up $2.79 or #,79. Staff acted irritated to correct store’s problem not customer’s problem..Since this seems to be an ongoing problem at this store…not worth shopping there if you get over charged constantly. How many mistakes are not caught by the customer and pay too much.
Can you please start stocking Special K cereal with protein at the Tanglewood store please?
