box-nourish2Paganini was established 20 years ago on a County Waterford farm in Ireland, as a mode of adding dairy output value. Currently, the company is trying to market its award-winning and innovative products across the United Kingdom. Paganini scooped the innovation award for making ice cream that combines indulgence with nourishment. The company entered the market with functional ice creams that were enriched with FitFuel Nourish protein. This protein is of great significance to recuperating patients. Early this year, Paganini released another product, FitFuel Perform. This product is an ice cream enriched with proteins and readily used by athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

According to the company’s Managing Director, Barry Murphy, the demand for functional foods has been increasing over the last few years. It has therefore identified a great potential for functional ice cream, both locally and internationally. Nourish is currently used in nearly thirty nursing homes and hospitals nationally. Since its launch in August 2013, thirty stores have listed Perform. Murphy said that one of their first customers was Pettit’s Supervalu. Additionally, the company has sold its products to gyms, independent health food stores and a few Spar stores. It is evident that functional ice cream is one of the innovative departures for Paganini.

According to founder Tomas Murphy, creation of such ice cream was a means of enhancing milk’s value. This is the main reason why he decided to establish a small farm factory, as well as a shop that sells ice cream in Wexford’s quay. Demand came from restaurants and hotels, but not retail stores. It is expected that Paganini’ s sales will increase by ten percent this year and twenty percent in later years once it expands its market to the United Kingdom.
