History
PepsiCo, Inc. began in the year 1898 with the creation of the beverage Pepsi-Cola. The company was originally named The Pepsi Company in 1902. It had its first incorporation in Delaware in 1919 and went through a series of ownership changes from the 1920s to the 1930s.

In the 1960s, the Pepsi Cola Company expanded its product line with the creation and introduction of Mountain Dew and Diet Pepsi. By 1965, the company entered into a merger with Frito-Lay, Inc. and is now what has come to be known as PepsiCo, Inc. The company then relocated to its currents headquarters in Purchase, New York in 1970. PepsiCo, Inc. again reincorporated in North Carolina in 1986.

From the late 1970s through the mid-1990s, PepsiCo went into expansion by a series of business acquisitions outside of its main focus. It divested itself of some of these acquired companies in order to return to its main line of business, which is in the beverage and snack food lines. Some of the brands formerly owned by the PepsiCo include Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell and Wilson Sporting Goods.

After the company sold some of its businesses, they again went into major acquisitions, which included acquiring Tropicana Products (1998). PepsiCo also went into a merger with The Quaker Oats Company in 2001 and added Gatorade into its line of beverages/sports drinks, as well as Quaker Oats products like Aunt Jemima and Chewy Granola Bars.

By 2009, the company made an offer of $7 billion to purchase the two biggest bottling companies of its products, The PepsiAmericas and the Pepsi Bottling Group. Both bottlers are located in the North Americas. This acquisition was completed in 2010 which led to the creation of Pepsi Beverages Company, a subsidiary wholly owned by PepsiCo, Inc. In the same year, PepsiCo also acquired Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods by buying a greater part of its stake. This has been considered to be the biggest international acquisition that PepsiCo has made. Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods is a Russian company focused on producing dairy products, as well as fruit juices.
