Nestle USA is the largest dairy producer in North America. It surpasses Dean Foods Company, which has taken the first spot for 20 years. This is according to a report published by the Dairy Foods magazine. The revenues for Nestle USA increased by 7 percent from the year 2011 to 2012. The revenues for Dean Foods reduced by 37 percent, partly because it sold the Morning Star business to Saputo, which held the third spot. WhiteWave took the 19th position after completing an IPO that raised more than 365 million dollars in terms of net equity.
Some of the products manufactured by Nestle Foods include packaged ice creams. These include the brands Haagen-Dazs, Eskimo Pie and Dreyer’s. The company also manufactures flavored milk such as the Nesquik brand, Natural Bliss coffee creamers, Coffee-Mate, and powdered beverages. According to a report by Nestlé’s Parent company, Nestle S.A., the sales in the division of America amounted to 11.1 billion dollars in the year 2012. A majority of the sales came from liquid beverages, powdered beverages, and ice cream and milk products. Dairy Foods produces a list of the largest processors annually. The diary food processors contained in the list are based in Canada and the United States. This year, the list has 101 companies because there was a tie for the 100th position. The combined annual sales for the 101 companies amount to 114.2 billion dollars. Some of the companies that appeared at the top ten positions include Nestle USA, Dean Foods, Saputo, Schreiber Foods, Land O’Lakes, Kraft Foods, Agropur Cooperative, Dairy Farmers of America, Lactalis USA, and Prairie Farms Dairy. Lactalis managed to take the 9th spot because of its acquisition of Italy’s Parmalat.
