DierbergsDierbergs, located in Missouri and Illinois, is one of the main grocery suppliers and retail market employers in the St. Louis area. The privately owned company sticks to its roots by supplying its customers with all of the things their daily grocery needs.

History

In 1914, William Dierberg purchased a local St. Louis general merchant store that provided customers with with essential needs such as kerosene, sugar, fabrics, hardware, and clothing among others. Fifteen years later, Dierberg gave the business to his two sons, which they took to new heights, expanding to a new 3,500 square foot location. By 1967, a third generation Dierberg, Bill Dierberg’s son Bob, entered the family business and opened a second store that was labeled “Store of the Month” by Progressive Grocer magazine. After 1967, with the opening of a third store, Dierbergs started to slowly expand, leading to a four generation family run business of 25 store locations with over 5,000 employees.

Dierbergs is one of the top 25 employees in the St. Louis area, and their flower and gifts store is rated at the number one florist in St. Louis. Dierbergs, aside from being a main community supporter by being a huge employer, also participates in community outreach and charity programs. Taking part in hunger relief, neighborhood and social organizations, Dierbergs helps people in need, extending far beyond the grocer supplier position and becoming a local community provider.
